Mount Fuji is one of the most iconic postcard images in the world, and the tallest mountain in Japan. Nobody who visits Japan should miss it – it’s only ninety minutes drive outside of Tokyo and is quite simply one of the best things I’ve ever seen.
If you go to Bali then the chances are you’ll either begin or end your trip in Kuta, as it’s right by the airport. Kuta was the last place we visited in Bali, and therefore the last destination of our WHOLE Asian backpacking adventure *sob*.
The Gilis are three tiny islands, reachable by boat in about two hours from mainland Bali. They consist of: Gili Trawangan (or Gili T), Gili Air, and Gili Meno.
Ubud was my favourite place in Bali – it’s where the book Eat, Pray, Love was set and is like Mecca for yogis, a far cry from hedonistic Kuta just an hour and a half away.
Kuala Lumpur was never in our travel plan, but we ended up booking a spontaneous stopover for two days on our way from Thailand to Bali, and what a decision this turned out to be!
