Continuing the vegan theme of my previous food post… We decided to try out Broccoli Revolution, a fully vegan restaurant in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok.
This place is easy to find, right by Thong Lo BTS station. The restaurant itself is really big and modern inside with plenty of natural light, high ceilings, and lots of plants and greenery around. We came here intending to continue our healthy eating buzz but after seeing the burgers here this went out the window – although vegan junk food doesn’t really count as junk food, does it?
Broccoli Revolution’s vegan patties are made from (you guessed it) brocolli and quinoa and are served with salad, avocado and a mango salsa in a black sesame bun. I’m not sure what makes the bun black or what benefit it has, but it’s definitely Instagram friendly. The burger wasn’t like any veggie burger I’d had before – in a good way. Even without any cheese or sauce the burger was so juicy thanks to the broccoli in the patty and the mango salsa, plus 100x more nutritious than a greasy cheeseburger (okay maybe not that much, but I didn’t feel guilty eating it).
The burgers also come with a generous helping of homemade chunky chips… both the standard potato variety, as well as some big white ones of which I’m not too sure what vegetable they came – any idea real vegans? Speaking of which, we also ordered the vaguely named ‘veggie balls’ from the appetisers menu, which were a bit like falafels but really crunchy and crispy. Despite some confusion we could easily have had second helpings of these!
Aside from what we had, the menu at Broccoli Revolution was really varied, including several smaller plates and a lengthy juice selection. It’s also just a really trendy place for meeting friends, getting a coffee, or catching up with some work. If we had Broccoli Revolution in England it would be my permanent lunch spot!
